Recently, a team of technical experts from Gaoke Rubber & Plastics Industry Co., Ltd. was invited to visit the Xuansteel Branch of Hebei Iron and Steel Group, where they conducted an in-depth technical exchange on the application and operation & maintenance of hydraulic hose assemblies, seals, and bellows expansion joints. This initiative leveraged specialized expertise to enhance safety in steel production and help clients reduce costs while improving efficiency.

During the exchange session, engineers from Gaoke Rubber & Plastics, drawing on the steel industry’s operating conditions of high temperature, high pressure, and heavy load, provided a systematic overview of the standardized installation procedures for hydraulic hoses and highlighted key installation considerations. They also conducted an in-depth analysis of the root causes of common failures encountered in production, such as hose rupture, joint leakage, and pipeline aging: excessively small bending radii and external abrasion accelerate hose degradation and failure, while improper seal selection and deviations in tightening torque can easily lead to leakage risks. Based on years of practical experience in the industry, the technical team proposed a comprehensive, end-to-end optimization plan: rational pipeline layout planning, installation of protective and securing devices, regular verification of joint preload, and development of preventive replacement schedules tailored to operating conditions—all aimed at eliminating safety hazards at the source.

To ensure the precise implementation of the technical solution, the engineering team conducted on-site inspections at every piece of equipment and along every section of the existing piping system at Xuansteel’s production facilities. They engaged in face-to-face discussions with workshop equipment inspectors and operators to address on-site operation and maintenance challenges one by one and jointly identify potential risk factors. At the same time, they held in-depth exchanges with equipment management personnel on key issues such as the selection of bellows expansion joints and the temperature resistance limits of metal flexible hoses, thereby helping the enterprise refine its piping inspection and maintenance system and enhance the level of precision in equipment operation and maintenance.

This technical exchange not only enhanced the Xuansteel workshop’s understanding of pipeline system operation and maintenance, but also effectively addressed key operational pain points, thereby significantly reducing unplanned shutdowns and leakage incidents caused by installation and maintenance deviations, extending the service life of spare parts, and establishing a robust technical safeguard for the enterprise’s safe production.
